Little Chalet by the Sea

Beaches
The Bluff
Straight out in front of the chalet, walk down to the pub and follow the path all the way to the sand. Great for pushchairs and wheelchairs as ramp all the way.
Links up with Hayle beach (to the right) and Estuary (to the left) at low tide. (Each has their own path down at high tide, although The Bluff has the easiest access).
Can get busy at high tide as becomes quite small. Lovely warm shallow pools are left after high tide perfect for little ones (the sea goes out a long way!!)
Estuary
Walk to the top of the pub car park but follow the road past pub then follow road down to the right past chalets. A stoney, bumpy sloping ramp, only suitable for the sturdiest of pushchairs. Beach curves round from sea to estuary, lots of space to spread out. Sand dunes to climb and explore. Estuary is more protected from wind
Large swimming pools are created when tide is out. Dogs can use this section of the beach. Boats and jet ski use the estuary to access Hayle Harbour
Please beware strong currents can exist in the estuary, especially on an outgoing tide.
Mexico's
To the right (North) of The Bluff. Much quieter due to size of beach giving access to nearby caravan sites. Popular with surfers and kite surfers.
Gwithian
Further North, very popular with surfers. Can be reached by car or about 30-45 minute walk along the beach. Two cafes; Sunset Cafe and The Jam Pot are nearby.
Godrevy
Further North still, just before the lighthouse, very popular with surfers. Can be reached by car or about 45 minute walk along the beach. National Trust area with good cliff walks and seal sightings regular. Godrevy Cafe in car park.
Porth Kidney - Dogs are allowed on this beach all year round.
The St Ives side of the estuary is accessible by car or a walk through Hayle. Beautiful uncrowded beach with access to West Cornwall Golf Club and coast path to Carbis Bay. Surf when conditions right.
Carbis Bay - Blue Flag Award
Limited car parking at beach, but further car park on Porthrepta Road or street parking within a 5 minute walk down the hill. Usually calm and turquoise waters will greet you. Kayak and stand up paddleboard (SUP) hire available. Beach shop, cafe, restaurant and 5 star Hotel facilities. Access to coast walk to St Ives (35 minute walk).
St Ives - Porthminster
Spectacular calm beach popular with families with kayak and SUP hire. Tides can create small pools for swimming. Two cafes and very popular (but pricey) restaurant on beach.
St Ives - Harbour Beach
Right in the centre of St Ives, this is a tidal harbour with boat moorings. Usually very sheltered and very popular especially when the wind is up! If things get too hot, make sure you have a pint in The Sloop Inn.
St Ives - Balamuz
Very small, tidal beach, mainly for dog walkers.
St Ives - Porthgwidden
Small but popular beach near to car parks. Served by lovely cafe.
St Ives - Porthmeor
Right in front of The Tate Gallery, very popular with surfers but on a calm day is good for family swimming. Busy car park. Spectacular beach with good views of The Island and St Nicholas Chapel. Lovely cafe and beach bar serving tapas.
